The Volvo A40D is a 40-ton 6×6 all-wheel drive articulated dump truck. It is mainly used in heavy-duty off-road transportation scenarios. With its strong trafficability and load-bearing capacity, it has become a classic main model in the fields of mining and large-scale infrastructure projects.
It is equipped with a Volvo D12C six-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine with a net power of 426 horsepower and a maximum torque of 2056N·m. It adopts a 3-point swing hinge hitch design and the all-wheel drive structure can easily handle extreme non-paved roads such as mud and gravel.
The rated payload is 40 tons, the truck body has a stowage volume of 30.1 cubic yards (about 23 cubic meters), the unladen curb weight is about 30.3 tons, and the fully loaded total mass exceeds 70 tons. The maximum lift angle of the truck body is 70°, and the full unloading action can be completed in 10 seconds. The hydraulic system has a flow rate of 320L/min and a fuel tank capacity of 480 liters, which can support long-term continuous heavy-load operations.
